Meet the energetic, fearless and honest Leda Wright, Guest Stylist.
I’ve been working on the international fashion scene since I started styling 8 years ago so I’m excited to get more involved with South African fashion.
A PASSION FOR FASHION
I think its a bit of a combination between having danced all my life, where I got to wear so many fun and elaborate outfits on stage which really opened up my mind to being creative with clothes, and my sisters are 8 and 10 years older than me so I became their doll, they tested make up, hairstyles and would dress me up – I loved it.
FAVOURITE ITEM TO WEAR
My go to piece is a good pair of shorts – it can be casual or glam depending on how you dress it up.
I am a bit of a chameleon – this might sound a little strange but it all depends on what music I listen to while I am getting dressed. Music has a huge influence on my mood and what I wear. I am a rock and roll girl at heart so I usually live in short denim shorts and leather boots or a pair of converse sneakers.
FASHION TIPS FOR SUMMER
Always stay true to yourself – don’t just follow a trend because everyone else is. Stick to your original style and play with the idea of trends, don’t just follow them blindly. Unfortunately not all of us have model bodies so certain styles don’t always work for us…for example not everyone looks good in high waisted shorts!! But everyone can rock a print so we should all have a tropical printed something wrapped around us at some point this summer.
WORDS TO LIVE BY
My favorite thing to say is “without passion there is nothing – so if you going to do something do it to the fullest and with as much passion as you can possibly put into it! I also love the James Dean quote”dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today”
SOUTH AFRICAN FASHION
Pride and patriotism – having travelled abroad quite a lot I know that our fashion is right up there with the rest of them – I’m proud to say I am South African and i love watching how so many foreigners draw inspiration from us.
