MAKING A STATEMENT IN 2021

With the uncertainty that a New Year like 2021 brings, MAKING A STATEMENT IN 2021 may be difficult. However, we believe it’s what you add to your life in 2021 that can MAKE A STATEMENT, and it is the value you place on what you’ve added, that will make it an impactful statement.

SENSELESS SHOPPING

It seems senseless to shop for a new outfit for a party that’s no longer happening, the latest heels for a wedding reception that’s cancelled, or a new swim suit for a beach outing with the girls when beaches are closed.

2020 brought in new rules for shopping, and made us ask questions like:  Is it essential, Do I need it, and Is it worth the buy…?

MAKING A STATEMENT IN 2021: MEANINGFUL SHOPPING

This January Style Africa will introduce you to 5 accessory designers who MAKE A STATEMENT, while adding meaningful value to their pieces.

These designers make us ask whether our new item is useful, valuable, special, and made ethically…. We asked four of our readers what they got the special person in their life and why.

BV: I gifted a rose engraved bracelet for my moms 50th to signify the beauty she brings to our life.

JB: After a difficult year, I bought my sister a cute handbag to celebrate her first day at work.

ND: We saved up to buy my growing son a new pair of comfortable sneakers.

RI: I bought myself a pair of earings with the words dream, to remind myself to never stop dreaming.

The common thread is not that they are all accessories, but that they have significant meaning placed on each item. Selecting a gift with someone in mind, whether it is for the purpose to transform, beautify, or act as a useful tool; we can agree that the sentiment lasts much longer.

MAKING A STATEMENT IN 2021: WHAT THESE FASHION ICONS SAY

Fashion Icon Iris Appel said “Jewellery is the most transformative thing you can wear”  We agree, as it offers a unique story to the outfit that only the wearer can write.

Fashion Designer Michael Kors said “I’ve always thought of accessories as the exclamation point of a woman’s outfit”  We agree with him too, and wonder what you would present as your exclamation point?!

Style Africa welcomes the new year and encourages you to MAKE A STATEMENT, make it LOUD or make it SIMPLE, but aim to make it MEANINGFUL!

We’ll be featuring 5 accessory designers this month. Can you guess who they are?
