3 Designers from Africa crossed the virtual seas to showcase their designs at Philippines 1st Virtual Modest Fashion Show and Multiculture Exhibit; the theme ‘Connected’ Beyond Fashion.
South African Designers; Shiaam Abrahams of Modesty on Boulevard, Fazeela Isaacs of Maseeha InStyle, and Nigerian Designer Phoeboe Tulwani of Esteni Style took the opportunity to present their latest collections to a global audience. Style Africa MD, Roshan Isaacs, also had the honour of participating in a live mentor session on the Modest Fashion Channel hosted by Avianna Hermawan, with the 3 African designers and the super talented Joean Iman Montayre of Modest Fashion Manila.
PRESENTING AFRICA TO THE ORIENT
Esteni Signature designer Phoebe Toluwani aims to bring her clothing brand internationally, and make herself known into the world along with other designers she looked up to. She believes that her brand should have that Nigerian culture feel for the world to experience.
Modesty on Boulevard designer Shiaam Abrahams had been a Fashion Correspondent for Style Africa a few years ago. She admits that her experience with us added more push for her to pursue her passion and a better glimpse on the future of South African fashion. Shiaam is confident for modest fashion designers to succeed as the fashion industry is leaning towards them, urging designers all over the world to go out and take a share of this booming market.
Maseeha Instyle designer Fazeela Isaac wants the people of Africa to recognize the gold that they have in terms of modest fashion. The vibrant colours and the zesty prints that the Maseeha brand utilizes speaks of the colourful culture and enduring spirit of the African people, especially owing to her tribe – the Makuwa, where she came from, and taking inspirations from other diverse ethnic groups all over Africa. She aims to bring a colourful African feel to the modest fashion trends.
The virtual show included various styles and genres of modest fashion designs from the Philippines, Italy, Indonesia, and Afghanistan. A truly beautiful presentation of a global community’s self-expression of modest fashion from their respective country.
The event organised by MODEST FASHION DESIGNERS PRODUCTION and MODEST FASHION MANILA “CONNECTED: Beyond Fashion” is a first in the Philippines’ modest fashion scene, through which they strive to create inclusion, diversity, tolerance, education and understanding among people and cultures through modest fashion!
