Q&A with Personal Trainer Liesel Tamara

When did you develop an interest in exercise and fitness?

I’ve always been active in sport and in my matric year reaching Western Province in High Jump athletics was my deciding factor.

What made you decide to become a trainer/coach/instructor?

I’m a qualified coach and trainer. I love training people, being the driving force to people and seeing them achieve their goals is my passion.

What’s your response to people who say they don’t have time to work out?

There is always time to train, people train daily they’re just not aware that they do. Being in a gym isn’t the only place you can train, in your office or at home use your space there’s no excuse…

What do you think is the biggest mistake people make when it comes to sticking with an exercise routine?

A common mistake is doing the same exercise program everyday for months or years and expecting different results or training and skipping days. Your programme will get you to a point and from there you need to progress to see results.

How do you stay motivated to keep training?

The thought of having a healthy toned body and a health mind is great, further more staying in shape for soccer is a must!

How does the body benefit from variety in exercise?

Variety challenges the body, challenges bring results. I love this quote, “If it doesn’t challenge you it won’t change you”.

How do you change your personal exercise routine up?

Progression, adding heavier weights and adding a functional exercise to my routine.

For people who have never heard of your form of exercise how would you explain it to them?

Good old fashion weight and functional training.

How important is eating right?

Eating correctly is one of the basics in training. Eating right plays a huge part in the effectiveness of your training program, your body needs the right food to operate and function at its best

is your favourite workout or exercise?

Deadlifts, good full body workout just there 😉
