An intimate setting with chandeliers hung from the ceiling, colourful artwork on display and a red carpet, awaited guests at the Bromwell Boutique for design label, VADA’s ‘Claiming The Throne’ fashion and beauty event.
It felt like an afternoon tea with the Royals. MC for the event, model Kanya Ngumbena, welcomed guests and set off to introduce us to the hostesses who were dressed in their exquisite designs beautifully hugging their curves. Bianca in an Arabian hooded dress and Kamara in a black top and white skirt. Kamara and Bianca Sivada enthused eager ears on how two young, beautiful sisters established a brand so powerful.
Bianca, a psychology graduate and Kamara, a marketing graduate demonstrate that to create a design business, passion is key. How did they start their brand…..
Bianca and Kamara have always been in fashion. It all started when they were students and sold second hand clothing as a way to make money. When people fought to buy their clothes, they realised that people liked what they wore and this sparked the idea of creating their own brand. Their unique selling point was to design clothing to fit the curvaceous body and represent every woman as a queen. Not everything comes easy when starting up a business and aiming for the stars, so the sisters met with a few challenges along the way ….
Beauty was served next with guest makeup Artist Kimlyn Sisam of Simply Blush Makeup Artistry. Kimlyn demonstrates the application of a flawless ready to wear makeup look. Besides learning how to contour and highlight, Kimlyn says that for glowing skin you need to 1. Exfoliate 2. Apply primer 3. Apply Foundation and finish it off with a refreshed look, lightly spray rosewater over your face.
After a mouthful of cake and moroccan mint tea Rushda Moosajee of Glow Womens Physique speaks about her personal journey, growing her business and what it takes to keep, make and build a voluptuous body. Rushda tells us that we need to embrace the natural shape of our bodies. Not everyone was built with an hourglass shape. We need to work on enhancing the areas that make us unique.
The afternoon was wonderfully spent with VADA. Before leaving, we were presented with a delightful bag of goods containing * a 30% off VADA voucher * R200 off Living Room voucher * the latest Elle magazine * Roberto Cavalli perfume * Gosh makeup * CK makeup * FoxBox voucher * Glow Womens Physique free workout * oils from the Bromwell Boutique * Chanel perfume .
